Take the path to the right of the Town Hall; follow the signs for Hollerday Hill. You can take one of the many paths that criss cross the hill or follow the coastal path to the right. After about ½ a mile, this drops into the Valley of Rocks. Walk down to Castle Rock, the largest rock in the Valley or take the lower cliff path, which takes you along North Walk and either into Lynmouth or Lynton by the Church. The quickest route back to The Turret from the Valley is along the road, approximately 20 minutes.

To appreciate the Valley from another side is to walk over South Cliffe. Turn right out of the house, follow the sign for Barnstaple up the hill. Don't bear left on the bend where all the cars go. But go straight ahead up past the farm, keeping right at the farm gate. After that keep on the left. The path is a gentle climb with plenty of seats from which to admire the view. The path eventually takes you down the hill and you bear right to Lee Abbey. Walk along the toll road to the Valley and keep your eyes open for the White Lady high up on your left.
Either walk or catch the Cliff Railway down to Lynmouth. Walk to the end of the village to the A39, cross over the road and walk on the left-hand side of the river. The walk is an easy 2 miles to Watersmeet. During the season the National Trust Tea Rooms are open and well worth a visit.
From Watersmeet you can walk to Rockford and Brendon following the East Lyn River. Rockford Inn is open from 12.00 to 2.00 pm.

Watersmeet via the Cleaves, turn left out of The Turret cross the road and walk down the side of the Post Office. At the end of the road turn left and walk to the Crown Hotel at the foot of Sinai Hill. Walk up the hill for about 50 yards and turn left onto Lynway, follow the signs for the Youth Hostel. Cross over the road and the river by Ye Old Cottage Inn, turn left and follow the signs to the Cleave and Watersmeet.
